Today, while picking up some page tabs at Dollarama, I found myself in a rather cute situation. I proceeded to the line after finding my page tabs and of course stopping to pick up a Turtles chocolate Easter egg (yummm..to die for!). While waiting in line an older woman pulled her cart up behind me. She politely said, "Excuse me miss, you see, I have quite a bit of stuff here (only about two bags worth), and I was wondering if you would be so kind as to help me carry it out for me?" I replied with, "Oh of course! No problem at all." Then she continued by telling me how she just had a hip replacement and was recommended by the doctor not to lift anything heavy. After thanking me several times before I even did anything, we made our way out to the parking lot where I loaded her bags up for her. She thanked me again and said how kind I was and gave me a big hug.
It felt good to do something nice for a stranger. I hope that when I am old and need a hand that someone kind helps me out. Usually, being from a small town, when opportunities like this arise I know the person that I am helping. I am glad I could make a positive difference in this ladies day.
I challenge everyone to leave a comment telling one nice thing that they have done lately! :)
Aw! Nice work Amber! Stranger hugs are the best!! I'm gona have to go out and do something nice now to meet your challenge! Its kind of sad I can't think of anything off the top of my head! :S
ReplyDeleteAwe thats a cute story, your random act of kindness for the day! I wasn't going to leave a comment, but after reading your last sentence i feel i have to! It's sad when you look back and try to think of a nice thing you have done and nothing comes to mind right away. I guess I have racked my brain thinking of things i have done for strangers, but thats really not the point of something nice, of course its an extra great feeling when its for a stranger. Today I cleaned the kitchen for my sister. It's nice for her to come home from work to a clean kitchen before she has to scoot to her second job. So that was my not so random act of kindness
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! Well that is really nice of you Dani. I am sure she really appreciated it. I would sure love it if my roommate did some cleaning once in a while! haha but what can ya do.
ReplyDeleteWell, this is a little silly, but oh well. I took my sister's cat outside today (daily picture to come). I think it's an act of kindness because that cat absolutely loves the outdoors and spending most of her day looking out the window or sitting by the door meowing her head off. They're indoor cats so we have to be outside with them and my sister rarely finds the time to go sit outside for ten minutes to apease her cat. I felt pretty proud of myself when I saw how happy Pepper was in her first trip outdoors of the year.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of silly how obsessed I am with my cats, hey? ;)
What a great story! My act of kindness that I thought of was when I drove a friend home from my house on saturday because he wasn't in a position to drive himself. I'm also driving my sister to an appointment tomorrow because she just had surgery and is unable to drive.
ReplyDelete@Robin: That's great. I love cats too. I was talking to my mom on the phone today and she said that there was a surprise for me and my sister when we got home this weekend. And I was like :O Well are you going to tell me or keep it a secret. And of course she ended up spilling the beans that we have 2 litters of kittens!! One of my favourite things in the world. I may write a sad post sometime about a tragic kitten story, but not today. Anyways, good to hear that you not only helped out your sister but also the cats!
ReplyDelete@jhbest: Thanks! It is always nice to have a friend to count on to be that safe ride home when in times of need.
