Voicethread

I decided to try using Voicethread for a second way to tell a story. I liked how this site let you have a choice of where you wanted to upload your pictures from. It was an easy site to use, but I found it didn't have a lot of options in terms of transitions, timing, background music (there was no option on having that) and text. Voicethread would be a great device to used in an Elementary level class where all you want is to show a basic story using voice and pictures. I think the limited transitions, effects, etc. would make this less appealing to an older audience.

I think Voicethread was an alright way to communicate the story that I told, but I believe there are better ways out there. When comparing this tool with Animoto I think that Voicethread better projected the story I was telling. The use of narration rather than fancy effects and high paced music made it more of a personal endeavor rather than a commercial selling my trip. Both are great in their own ways.

  1. Nice story Amber.
So did you go there seeing if you wanted to attend school there or just to check out the school in general??

  2. I agree Amber, I like this video much better because of the element of narration. The lack of music almost made it seem more nostalgic than the Animoto video with it's fast-paced music.

  3. I agree, after seeing both videos, this one had a better narrative, I felt more engaged and intersted in the story. The Animoto one gave it excitement but the narrrative wasn't there.

"We made some new friends." Haha, that was cute.

  4. Yes Dionne, I went there to check it out, but I guess I knew deep down I would never end up there. I was just confirming that in my mind :) I used to dream of being a fashion designer and my friend, who was going to check out the culinary program, knew that and knew I had looked into the school and asked if I wanted to come with her. I am glad I went because I can say for sure that I have no regrets in the desicions I made!

  5. The great thing about voicethread is that it allows you to take a movie you made with say movie maker where you can add music, transitions etc and you load it onto voicethread. Then it is very simple to use on your blog. I use it often on my blog cekidlights.blogspot.com I teach Kindergarten and use it to teach my parents the strategies we use in the classroom.
