Last Wednesday we had our second "in class" class for ECMP. To connect with a few of the students who couldn't attend the university we did an online broadcast using USTREAM. This is a great tool for connecting with people all over the world. It is easy and seemed to work perfectly other than a small lag in time.
After a short period of discussing things about the class we headed into a class with the ECMP 455 students to watch a presentation by Ben Hazzard on Smart Boards. In his presentation he outlined some of the reasons for using smart boards and some of the top ways to use and misuse this technology.
In my high school there were a few teachers who had smart boards in their classrooms, but one teacher in particular used her smart board in many of these top 10 ways that Ben listed. I think in doing this she created a more efficient learning environment that kept the students interested.
I found a site that has some good links for tips and ideas on using smart boards.
I also found a very basic video for anyone who missed Wednesday's class and isn't familiar with smart boards.
